Ped peony root, from the perspective of TCM, is considered a bitter herb that provides cooling sensations to the liver meridian. For this reason, it’s been used to treat jaundice and severe liver diseases. Red peony root is used for stopping nosebleeds, reducing inflammation in eyes and treating boils. Compounds in red peony root have also been studied for possible anti-tumor properties, specifically for bladder cancer.1,2,3
