What is Soursop?

Soursop is the fruit from the Annona muricata tree. Soursop fruit is a sweet and sour flavored fruit related to the sugar-apple and the paw paw. Soursop fruits are native to Central and South America and the Caribbean.1

Soursop is an antioxidant superfruit that contains phytonutrients and vitamins that are beneficial for preventing disease. One of the diseases that soursop can help prevent is macular degeneration because of its high vitamin A and E content. Soursop is also an anti-inflammatory fruit helping to relieve arthritis and joint swelling. Soursop’s antioxidants are also believed to have anti-cancer benefits, particularly for pancreatic cancer.2
