Cocklebur fruit is the see from the cocklebur plant, Xanthium strumarium. An annual plant, the cocklebur is considered a poisonous weed. Cocklebur fruits are oval-shaped, woody burs covered in brown or yellow spines.1

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cocklebur fruit is used to target the lungs and liver with its bitter, sweet and warm properties. Cocklebur fruit is used as a remedy for colds, congestion and runny nose. It’s also used as a remedy for skin, helping to treat eczema and rashes. Cocklebur fruit can also help alleviate headaches, muscle cramps and inflammation. It’s also been traditionally used to treat malaria, mumps and other infections.2
