Mulberry bark is the brown-yellow bark from the mulberry tree, Morus alba L, which is native to East Asia. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, mulberry bark is called Sang Bai Pi, and it is prescribed as a decoction for a variety of lung and spleen conditions.1,2

Mulberry bark has traditionally been used to treat lung conditions and help improve breathing from excess phlegm, congestion, asthma and coughing. Mulberry bark also has natural diuretic benefits, helping with urinary problems and water retention.
